Lindner chalkware man with a ukulele signer as 1941this si an exceptional and rare statue by lindner. A similar figurine can be seen in hawaiiana by mark blackburn on page 171.
The main difference is that the colors are slightly different and this figurine has s gold uke and he is sporting gold shoes. The one in the book is a reddy rust color. He is a very large figurine. He stands almost 19 tall and the base is 7 across.
The bottom is covered in green felt and at the back he has debossed his name and 41. He is in exceptional shape for a 1941 chalkware figurine, but there are a few nicks worth noting2-3 small lbites along is lower slacks in the front.
2-3 places on the uke neck where the paint was knocked off. 1-2 small places along the base where the paint has chipped off. There are no visible cracks, but a small amount of varnish is on his neck ta the back (although nothing looks newly varnished) and a few places on his shirt. He weighs in at 7 pounds, so he will most likely be an 8 pound package.
He is really a wonderful chalkware rfom 1941! The prices from 2001 in the hawaiiana book place a apir (including the gal which i don't have) at $800-$1200. Please check uot my other auctions.
